What TEAS 7 Score Do You Need?

Score requirements vary significantly by program. Published minimums are often lower than what admitted students actually score.

60–70%
Minimum to Apply

Most ADN and community college programs set the floor here. Scoring at the minimum is risky — programs rank applicants by score and minimums fill up fast.

70–80%
Competitive

The range where most admitted ADN and BSN students score. Aim here to be competitive at the majority of programs.

80%+
Highly Competitive

Required for top BSN programs. Science — especially A&P — is where the separation happens at this level.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sections are on the TEAS 7?
The TEAS 7 has four sections: Reading (45 questions, 55 min), Mathematics (38 questions, 54 min), Science (50 questions, 63 min), and English & Language Usage (37 questions, 37 min). Total: 170 questions, 209 minutes.
What is a good TEAS 7 score?
It depends on your program. Community college ADN programs typically require 60–70%. Competitive BSN programs want 75–85%. The national mean is around 65–68%. Check your program's published minimum — and aim at least 5–10 points above it, since many programs rank by score.
How many times can I take the TEAS 7?
Most programs allow 2–3 attempts with a mandatory wait between attempts (usually 30–60 days). Some programs average your scores; others take the highest. ATI allows retakes after 30 days. Always check your program's specific policy before scheduling.
How is the TEAS 7 different from the TEAS 6?
The TEAS 7 (current version) removed the Earth Science subsection, added more data interpretation, and restructured the science section to focus more heavily on A&P and biology. If you have older prep materials, verify they cover TEAS 7 content.
Is the TEAS harder than the HESI A2?
They test similar content but in different proportions. The TEAS weights Science heavily. The HESI A2 includes Chemistry and Physics that the TEAS doesn't. Most students find whichever they're less familiar with harder. If your program accepts both, choose based on your science strengths.
